Persaud hits first Limited Overs 100

Club Crusoe's Guyanese born all-rounder, Jason Persaud, struck the first century in the Tobago Cricket Association (TCA) 2012 season to help his club completely dominate their match against Charlotteville, winning by 134 runs.

Persaud struck 117 in his team's mammoth total of 301 for 4 declared to completely demoralise Charlotteville which could only muster 167 all out in reply. Opening partner Raphael Estraido hit a valuable 64 while skipper, Richard Murray slammed 63.

When Charlotteville replied, only Anthony Kent (34) and Edson Marcelle (31) made any meaningful contributions as they were undermined by Donovan Roberts (2/20), Jason Persaud (2/29) and Richard Murray (2/37). The win piloted Club Crusoe to, the pole position on the eight team table with six wins against one defeat.

The season's surprise package, Georgia C.C. finished second on fifteen points when they successfully chased down an imposing 242 to overcome Scarborough Mason Hall at Canaan. Freedom Mc Kenna struck a punishing 57 and Junior Slater stroked his way to 56 while Damian Ramsey (3/38), Micheal Ramsey (3/40) and Frank Edwards (2/46) help Georgia restrict the loser's from scoring an imposing total.

Tyson Alleyne got Georgia off to a rousing start with 87 and Damian Ramsey continued the momentum with 58 not out to assist Georgia achieve an improbable victory.

Third place, Sport Elite handed defending champions C&B Sports their third defeat of the season with a five wicket win. Batting first C&B were dismissed for 179 with Winston Dairie making 45 and Raj Singh 39. Bowling for Sport Elite, John Pollard captured 3 for 25 and Ronnel Scotland grabbed 3 for 48. In reply, Sport Elite was propelled to its winning target by Adrian Alexander 46, Kelon Lynch 44 and Antonio Providence 38.

In spite of the defeat, C&B lies fourth on the standings after a seven wicket win over Georgia the previous day.

After skittling out Georgia for 114, C&B replied with 116 for three with Elton Cruickshank top-scoring with 45 and Ashworth Burnett 33 not out while Micheal Ramsey grabbed 2/58 bowling for Georgia. Damian Ramsey (42) and Tolbert Tobias (26) were the main contributors to Georgia's final total while Jamie Boyce captured 3/12 and Marcus Daniel 2/10 bowling for C&B.

Tomorrow,(Saturday) the preliminary round schedule will be completed with two outstanding games that will feature Scarborough-Mason Hall against Airport's Authority while Sport Elite will engage Charlotteville. The games are of academic importance.

Club Crusoe will tackle fourth place C&B Sports while second and third, Sport Elite and Georgia will do battle in the semi-finals.
