James scores 25 runs, grabs three wkts

Mason Hall Government Secondary failed to mount a serious challenge to join Signal Hill Comprehensive Secondary in the Trinidad and Tobago Secondary Schools Cricket Association National Championship Division.

They were knocked-out at the first hurdle of the Inter-Zonal School Promotional Play-off by Presentation College.

Batting first at Shaw Park recreational facility, Mason Hall folded for a less than challenging 78 runs in the reduced 25-over match.

Their opponents were never in trouble and reached their victory target for the loss of six wickets. Ato James was the only bright spark for the losers, scoring a solid 25 runs and taking three wickets for 25 runs from eight overs.

Though Mason Hall Secondary is not the champions of the Tobago Zone, they and Roxborough Secondary played for the right to represent Tobago because the Tobago Zone is far from completing their League Championship tournament so the organisers ran a play-off between the two top teams to get the representative team. They did not want to miss the opportunity for a Tobago school to compete for a National berth.
