2012 football launching in JuneRaymond Alleyne, president of the Tobago Football Association (TFA) told the Tobago News that he could not give a specific date for the 2011-2012 prize-giving function or for the launch of the 2012 season. However, he noted that they are hoping to procure all the funds for their prizegiving budget soon so that they can host their prizegiving function before the launch. He added that they are hoping to launch the 2012 season possibly in June or July, much earlier than last year when they were forced to have a very late launch in August, because of circumstances beyond their control. Tobago News also asked about the Tobago Football Association Women Representative team competing in the National Football League and he said that he still has not seen the funds to make this a reality but they have begun the process of being represented in the League, but again, he added, it all depends on them acquiring the funding. According to Alleyne, there is presently one team in training, the senior representative team team under coach Bertille St Clair. This team had two successful outings to date and though funds are a problem, he is hoping that the players will continue to turn up for training and St Clair will continue to work with the lads even though they are unable to work out some meaningful arrangement with him at the moment. |
