No need for Warner to resign, says Jack
Political Leader of the Tobago Organisation of the People (TOP), Ashworth Jack said the position of his party on the bribery allegations surrounding the Minister of Works and Transport is that Jack Warner should not resign his ministerial appointment.
Speaking at his bi-weekly press conference, the Tobago House of Assembly (THA) Minority Leader said that position was taken at Monday's Island Council meeting. "The organisation adopted the position that they saw no reason why Mr. Warner should resign pending the investigation," Jack stated. Warner has been under pressure to resign following allegations that he was involved in a bid to bribe delegates of the Caribbean Football Union a month ago. However, Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissesar has stated categorically that she has no intention of requesting the Minister demits office. |

Is it really so difficult to solve the drainage problem at the ravine on Golden Grove Road? It is more than one year that it has been in its present state!

I doubt very much FIFA dispels one of their members if there is no truth to the allegations. It is a serious step for any professional organization to take. Mr. Warners creditability is definitely tarnished - and he should - for the sake of his own political party - resign, pending the outcome of any investigation. Having him linger on is detrimental to politics in TnT. Politics is all about having faith and trust in those running for office - and it is sad that Mr. Warner does not recognize this himself. The PM SHOULD thus - dismiss him - since he does not have the honesty to leave himself. This is exactly the kind of things which nurture corruption. And oh by the way - from where again did Mr. Warner get the money to build his million dollar villa ?!. Why is no one asking these questions?!. Tobago - allyuh have to stand up for your rights and DEMAND that lying untruthful politicians - of any race and color - be held accountable for their deeds!

JW still funding the government. Unfortunate that no justice delivered to this genius. A country gets the government that it deserves. JW and AJ need to spend more time in bed together. AJ need to become a powerful politician just like JW. AJ is genius! AJ is JW!

This Jack, looks like an idiot and speaks like an idiot. JW issue is no longer an allegation. Everyone heard him on tape and he admitted it was/is his voice, telling the ole Bin to bring the gifts in cash. Where and when will the FIU and Customs laws be implemented. The CoP still investigating. In any first World country, no one would have had to beg the individual to resign, such would have been done hastily, so as to avoid any negative fallout to his/her political party. Not in T&T, where the thieves continues to lead the thoughtless, foolish citizens.

I think if the people of T&T fully understand the image that Jack Warner presents of our country on the international stage they would insist that he leaves his ministerial office.

if these are just allegations,by hear say, then he should not resign, but if it is being investigated by the organisation, responsible for making these claims which is fifa,i think that by all rights he should resign,it is an alledged criminal offence, and just as police officers and anyone who has a matter pending,or and investigation into some criminal offence,I do think that he should resign, but then again innocent untill proven

Your position is well taken Mr.Jack.If these are only allegations, then what is the need for a resignation?Perhaps the Prime Minister, based on the strength--if any-- of the allegations, should ask for Mr.Warner's suspension from parliament pending the results of an investigation by the competent authority. Are you folks saying that the mere allegation of a crime warrants a resignation/firing?What if Mr.Warner was unjustly accused or framed? What's going on there? What is the opinion of his constituents and by the way,who are those'independent thinking Tobagonians'?Care to name a few,of course excluding bagobybirth as well as concern citizen since they don't qualify?
