Trust God, he is in control!

By Barbara Stewart, Social Worker BSc (Hons.) Social Work

Today my dear readers, I am repeating this column for a young woman out there who is going through a hard time, and who is so confused. It is my fervent hope that these words my dear child will help you to see the light and you will be released from those negative forces around you.

When the world seems dark and lonely and your strength begins to fail, pray with faith for hope and courage; never falter; never fail.

These words were in a picture frame with a picture of Jesus Christ in the middle, and adorned the walls of our house for a long time. They were my source of inspiration when I was a child and young adult. These words have remained with me, and I still use them as inspiration and a source of comfort.

Some people seem to have more than their fair share of unfortunate incidences, and situations, nothing seem to be going right in their lives.

What ever your situation, remember God is in control. God has our lives in his hands and he knows how to handle even the seemingly complex and impossible situations with ease. When things seem impossible, keep your eyes on God, he is ready, willing and able to turn your situation around.

The power of life and death is in your thoughts and your words. The person who can manipulate and control how you think and what you say will control you. When situations confront you, stop having pity parties and talking about your unfortunate circumstance all the time.

Do not give life to that negative situation; stop thinking or speaking negative things into existence in your life and the life of others.

Think positive, happy, joyful thoughts, and you are going to be a positive happy joyful person, and you will be attract other happy positive people. I hear you, it is good for me to say what I am saying, I do not understand what you are experiencing, I do not know what you are going through. Granted, but, what I do know is that keeping a pity party and adopting this "poor me one" attitude is not going to help you.

As a first step to help you deal with your situation, think positive happy thoughts, visualise what you want to see and realise in the end, set your mind on the higher things and recognise that the only person who can improve the situation you are in is you.

We all have the power to control our destinies. Let us be courageous; 2 Timothy 1:7 tells us "For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind". Let us not be fearful, fear is not of God, for he is in control. Whatever your situation, have the courage to step out in faith and do the seemingly impossible. Those of you who are in very difficult situations, you do not have to endure that any more. Do not be afraid to take that step of faith, God is going to bring you out.

In these harsh economic times when some people are being put on the breadline, and there seems to be no way out, do not give up. God is in control, he is with you; have confidence. Philippians 4: 13 tell us "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me". Remember, greater is he who is in you than he who is in the world. He is your strength; you have the power of the most high God working in you. Psalm 23:4 tells us "Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me." God is there for you always, and he is true to his promise.

Walk in victory! Romans 8:28 tells you and I, "all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are called according to his purpose".

God has already worked it out for you. It may not come the way you think it should come, but when you pray, thank God for helping you to recognise whatever it is when you see it.

God is in control and he is working it out for you.

When there is nothing left but God that is when you find out that God is all you need!

Happy moments? Praise God.

Difficult moments? Seek God.

Quiet moments? Worship God.

Painful moments? Trust God.

Every moment? Thank God.

Be Blessed!
