Revive Good Friday marble pitching heritage

The Editor: I am curious to determine the best way to revive and to preserve the Tobago Good Friday marble pitching heritage? Are you curious as well?

Could it be that the answer resides in actually pitching on Good Friday April 6, 2012 in Tobago's premier marble pitching event, the Canaan / Bon-Accord 'fun-petitive' (our word) marble pitching festival? I think so.

Interestingly, as the 2012 national carnival and its consequential hype fade into oblivion, another event is looming, and its hype is emerging. It is the hype created by the Canaan /Bon-Accord 'fun-petitive' marble pitching festival that honours the community's seniors.

Admittedly, we at Canaan / Bon-Accord and environs did not invent marble pitching. We, however, have perfected it. My marble pitching icon, ace pitcher of the 1950s and 1960s, James Daniel, sponsor of the festival's challenge trophy testifies to this fact. Tyrone Guy, Nattie Trim, and Dr. Alison Williams concur. In fact, I am advised that these marble pitchers 'hands were stink'.

As an aside, would Drs. Williams, Potts, Prince, and Professor Barton pitch in the third edition of the festival? What about Papa Neeley, would he pitch at home at Milford Court Play Park, Bon-Accord on Good Friday, then run /race goats at Mt. Pleasant on Easter Monday and at Buccoo Point on Easter Tuesday?

The festival's main sponsors, businessmen from Canaan / Bon-Accord and environs as well as corporate entities from Scarborough and Lowlands are ready to 'lines down'. They are sponsoring prizes that range in value from the big poke to the 'queue'.

Good Friday, April 6, 2012 is time to 'break mi bank', 'Rug out' marbles again.

For those who can't bend down on the ground anymore one may have to invent a type of marble pitching like pool. Good going Mr Henry. And what time this even is starting?
