Congratulations, Tobago PNM Council!

THE EDITOR: The Tobago Council of the People's National Movement has demonstrated tremendous courage and patience to have continued to participate in a local television show where the Anchor, in the view of many, clearly has shown his partisanship in the conduct and management of the programme.

The programme is intended to a be discussion panel, the participants at which, represent the position of disparate political and other sectors of the society.

In this setting, it is incumbent on the moderator, despite his political persuasion to display absolute neutrality in the discussions. It certainly appears to several persons that, in matters political, he has evinced clear and unmistakable bias in leading and controlling the discussions.

One only has to compare the political balance exhibited on CNN, BBC and other international stations with the skewed conduct shown on our local station to recognize the difference in the quality of the interviews.

It is passing strange that, the only e-mails received on the programme and read to the public, favour the views of a particular interest. It is hardly believable that this imbalance exists in the island's society in these times and, as such, the credibility of the programme has been brought into question.

The Management of the television station is far from blameless in this matter, since this trend has existed for a long time now without a visible attempt being made to address the partisan situation.

That the Tobago Council has persisted in allowing its representatives to be a part of this inquisition week in and week out, is a tribute to the maturity of the People's National Movement and I congratulate the party and its representatives for attempting to speak to Tobagonians on this programme in the face of overwhelming odds.

I salute all of you. You have more "belly" than I.

If any of you ever watch this program with an OBJECTIVE mind, then your conclusions would've been different. I know for sure the "virginian" doesn't have a darm clue of what the writer of the article is saying, because he doesn't live here and therefore CANNOT reasonably comment on the it. I've never seen such blatant disregard for balance and objectiveness by the host, as I've seen on this particular program, hosted by a "bush lawyer" with "silk", in the name of Christo Gift. This program is DELIBERATELY set up by the owner of Channel 5 as a platform for the TOP and it's minions to spew anti-PNM dotishness every week. But like many attempts before, it WON'T HELP! I too want to salute those PNM members who appear on that program for their patience, because I don't have that capacity. The host ALWAYS interrupts them when ever they try to make their points, but allows the TOP spokespersons. It is DISGUSTING!

I usually view programming from all of our major, and not so major, networks including, but not limited to,CNN,ABC,FOX,NBC,MSNBC,CNBC,OWN and HLN and none has passed the non-bias smell test.I can't speak for BBC which I don't recollect ever viewing. Now if you believe that networks are unbiased,I have a bridge--the Brooklyn Bridge--that connects nothern Brooklyn,New York to the southern tip of Manhattan,New York that I'd like to sell you for about USD$0.19.Like to buy it?C'mon get real.If you're human, how could you be unbiased?Obviously some of us are more conspicuously in-your-face biased than others but we all have that baggage just beneath our skin where it resides.I'll show you mine if you were to show me yours first.
