Tobago's Choice–Mt Pleasant CU

By Victor Laptiste

More than 300 members of the Mt Pleasant Credit Union packed the Rovanel's Resort Conference Centre last Sunday for the 53rd Annual General Meeting.

President of the Board of Directors- Dr Winford James noted that in spite of the challenging economic times the society had performed creditably during the 2011 financial year.

The Net Surplus, which was the best over the last five years, was in excess of three million dollars – an increase of 27% over 2010 and Members' Shares increased by 9.5%. There was also a steady decline in the Delinquency Rates due to the efforts of the Delinquency Committee and Management Support Staff.

Share Dividends were declared at the rate of 4.25%, Interest on Deposits at 1.00 % and Interest Rebate on Loans at 2%. Elected to the Board of Directors were Carlton Guy, Gerald Mac Farlane and Hubert Delancey; other members of the Board are Dr Winford James, Robert W. Dillon, Cislyn James, Archdeacon Philip Isaac, Gloria Moore-Carrington and Joyce Estrada-Peterson.
