Setting the record straight

Once again you have misrepresented me. Last year your newspaper (Tobago News, June 24) said I had "prepared" a White Paper on internal self-government for Tobago. At my request, you published a correction.

Now (Tobago News, March 9, 2012) you say that a Green Paper on the same subject "was proposed by a team headed by Reggie Dumas." In fact, the proposal for, and decision on, a Green Paper were made by the government. My team, as you must by now know, prepared a draft Constitution Amendment Bill. The government has amended our draft and included the amended document in its Green Paper as an appendix. The text of the Green Paper was written by the Law Reform Commission.

The Tobago News apologises to Mr Reggie Dumas

I totally agree with James. It is confusing and Tobago is far too small to be pulled apart by political factions. Who are the winners?

Are you surprised you were misrepresented? The whole issue is so totally confusing at a time when there should be the meeting of the minds.I hope the politicians would remember consensus building and work in the interest of Tobago.
