Heartache continues: loved ones still missing

The feeling of heartache continues for two separate families in Tobago as their loved ones remain missing at sea, even though the search for the men have been called off by Coast Guard Officials.

Glendora Benjamin, mother of Delano Benjamin who disappeared during a diving expedition on April 12, says she is still waiting for officials to visit her.

"Nobody never come back and tell me nothing, nothing concerning my son missing. Not even the Coast Guard don't even come back. I only realize the search was called off from the media," Glendora Benjamin said.

Benjamin said she even dreams about her son, and in those dreams she is told by him to not cry, and that everything will be alright. The family still hopes Delano Benjamin is alive.

"I dream of him a lot of times, and he comes to me and like he coming for help, you know. I say he in some country. I don't have the feeling he dead," Benjamin said.

Meanwhile, the family of Learmond Chapman is also hopeful since there is no physical evidence of their loved one to bring closure. This was expressed by Learmond's sister, Christina Chapman.

"We know he dead right, but we still having the hope that he ain't dead, we always wishing something could always happen, so we could at least see him again," Chapman said.

Chapman is however commending Coast Guard Officials for their search efforts. She said her family was visited by Coast Guard Officials.

"And they bring a map and show us where they start to search, which part they found the belongings and thing, where they find the diving equipment and all those stuff. I find the Coastguard did a well done job," she said.

Delano Benjamin of Canaan Tobago and Learmond Chapman of Silk Cotton Trace Bon Accord Tobago, both went missing following a diving expedition on April 12. Coast Guard Officials were later deployed in search of the men. However the search was called off after three weeks.

Families of both men cling to the hope that one day some measure of closure will be met.

Ther is never enough words that can be said to anyone under such circunstances which would comfort them in the way we hope. but we as a people send our condolences, and hope that in your relationship with God your broken heart would find a way to heal. Lots of love.. The people of TOBAGO
