Fight for multi-million Tobago business heats upDurity had alleged that his business partner Darren Singh had been trying to sell the guesthouse out from under him for US$2 million and had been advertising it for sale without his knowledge. However, in a turn of the tables, an Order was made before Madam Justice Jones in the San Fernando High Court, whereby Durity was ordered to relinquish all management and control of the guesthouse and to hand over all assets to Singh. Singh is also the general manager of Cement Employees Credit Union in Claxton Bay, South Trinidad. Durity was represented by Dexter Bailey while Martin George & Company represented Singh. By the said Order, Durity was to hand over all vehicles comprising the car rental business of the guesthouse to Singh and Durity was also mandated by an Injunction Order, not to interfere with the business and operations of the said Tobago Exclusive Guesthouse and car rentals. Durity who had his son and daughter living there as permanent guests at the said guesthouse, was also ordered by the Court, to have them out of there, along with their two children within seven days. Durity was also ordered to pay Singh's costs of the day in the sum of $10,000. Singh has since re-taken possession of the guesthouse but was now contemplating instructing his attorneys Martin George & Co to file contempt of court proceedings against Durity, since some aspects of the Court Order have not yet been complied with. The parties are due back in Court in mid-October for pre-trial review before Justice Jones and the trial is set for November in the Tobago High Court. |
