Computer glitch delays CAPE results at Goodwood High

A computer glitch at the Education Ministry in St Clair has delayed the results of pupils of the Goodwood High School who sat the 2010 CAPE exams.

This was revealed by the Education Division on Tuesday which said in a media release that the results will be available in two weeks. The Division explained that the Education Ministry experienced "some challenges with their computers while tabulating the results".

It said other centers including Bishop's High School, Signal Hill Secondary Comprehensive, UWI Sixth Form and Scarborough Secondary were not affected by the glitch. More students wrote the CAPE exams this year, 354, as against 259 last year. These students attempted 24 subjects.

The Division said overall there has been an increase in the number of students that attained Grades I-V. Excluding Goodwood High School, there were 84.5 per cent of the students getting Grades I-V, while 15.4 per cent got Grades VI-VII.

Overall 84.8 per cent of females got Grades I-V while 81 per cent of males attained Grades I-V. With regard to the compulsory subjects (Communications Studies and Caribbean Studies), the Division said 90.3 per cent attained Grades I-V. For the students sitting Unit I subjects, 79.3 per cent attained Grades I-V and for Unit 2 subjects, 88.4 per cent got Grades I-V.

Grading Teachers is not a division of Education problem but a service commission problem, stop playing politics and get the facts

I do not understand how Good wood high is the only school in Tobago the computer glitched on sounds crazy. The principal and the parents needs to get up and out and check out that

This division cannot properly and promptly grade teachers. I hope they could double check the results of the children well.
