CEPEP cleans Tobago beaches
Tobago’s beaches are receiving extra attention this month as the Division of Health and Social Services is using the month of October to promote healthy lifestyles. According to the Secretary of Health and Social Services, Claudia Groome-Duke, having clean beaches is part of preserving the environment in recognising Heritage Health month.
“This week, the CEPEP team is cleaning all of our beaches in Tobago, and this is only one element of it because some of them are at the Grafton Beach, some are at Scarborough and so on. I want to congratulate all the CEPEP workers who are working hard in ensuring that Tobago remains clean and healthy.”
Foreman of the crew, Hughvon Sealy stated that the clean beach campaign is not a one time venture, but it is a year-long project.
“Well the beach clean-up campaign is just an extension really of what we do on an almost daily basis and whenever it’s necessary for the beaches to be cleaned, CEPEP would do it. At present, we clean about 19 beaches in Tobago but we are focussing on the beaches for this exercise which is our Heritage Health month.”
