"An engineering over-sight correction," is how Secretary of Settlements and Labour Godwin Adams described work to construct an underground drain at the Adventure Housing Estate in Plymouth by the Tobago House of Assembly (THA).
Speaking in an exclusive interview with Tobago News recently, Adams pointed out that the drainage project was undertaken to treat with this engineering oversight, which occurred during the infrastructural stage of the project.
"I believe it was a genuine mistake made by the project engineers. They are human and therefore subject to blunders and mistakes," he insisted.
"We have a situation, where all the electricity cables are underground and were being exposed to water in the area," he explained.
"We had to move to correct the situation," he added.
And on the issue of the failure of the THA to bring the sewer network system online with two pump stations yet to be powered, Adams revealed that the matter was in the hands of the Water and Sewage Authority (WASA). We had to do some corrective repairs to the lines, which we have completed. It is now up to WASA to do the necessary checks and certification of the plants and lines followed by T&TEC, which is responsible for powering up the system," he disclosed.
"The matter is now with these agencies," remarked Adams. Told that additional houses had been constructed at the housing estate, even as the sewer network remained offline, Adams replied that in the interim the THA was utilising the services of a sewer truck to assist in the portable transport of the sewer build up at the housing estate.
"We hope to have the matter resolved in a matter of days once the agencies do their part," he declared.
At the THA weekly news briefing last Wednesday, Adams announced that the THA was embarking on the construction of a 60-room apartment complex at Adventure.

One reason why THA gets bad work is because they also bad pay. I want the THA to do an audit to see how many people they owe money. There is so much personal bad mind ,especially in Education Department where Bill are unpaid and pensions are left unprocessed. To the Londons- Please process your bad pay bills.
